What moves us at River of Glory
There is only one true God, who is the eternal King, Creator, and Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving, and truthful. He has revealed Himself to be eternally self-existent – one being in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It is without any mixture of error because it is inspired by God.
Humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, yet we willfully rejected the Lordship and glory of God for which we were intended. As a result sickness, death and judgment entered the world causing creation to experience the effects and the consequences of sin. In Christ, that which was lost has been fully restored.
The Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and is God’s Anointed One, empowered by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate God’s Kingdom on earth. He was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected, ascended into heaven, and is now alive today, in the presence of God the Father and in His people. He is “true God” and “true man.”
We are saved by God’s grace through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through repenting, believing, and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the Kingdom of God as His sons and daughters.
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live with His guidance daily.
In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live holy and minister supernaturally, we have freedom from the power of sin.
The victorious redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides freedom from the power of the enemy – sin, lies, sickness, and torment. Through Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Holy Spirit, we are able to live holy and righteous lives.
The Church consists of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ. He gave His church the ordinances of Baptism and Communion. The Church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further advance His kingdom, which includes sharing the good news Christ’s love, baptizing, and teaching them to love and obey God.
In the government of God and in the Blessed Hope (the glorious visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His overcoming bride) there will be a resurrection of the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting death. Heaven and hell are real places.
Being thankful, we celebrate joyously in God's promises. This is the secret to our strength.
Our hope and expectation release the supernatural deposit of God in our lives.
Failure is a learning experience, not an identity. Through His grace, we are who God says we are.
The power that works within us activated by faith.
We have been invited to experience the goodness of God and to release this reality here on earth.
Honor brings life. We celebrate people for who they are rather than stumbling over what we think they are not. We speak with respect, whether or not we are in agreement.
Matthew 9:29 - Then Jesus put his hands over their eyes and said, "You will have what your faith expects!"
This verse reminds me that:
Ephesians 3:20 - Never doubt God's mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.
This verse reminds me that God is:
